I really miss Alin coming here to tell us how much faster the latest release will be.

Has he been on here since the switch over from CADForum.net?

I guess I just looked at the ā€œlast postā€ date & didn’t look at the ā€œlast seenā€ date!

You know, that sounds a lot like the situation we’re in, except not quite everything wanted and we would like to do 3D without SOLIDWORKS as well.

We don’t use electrical.

We never went with SolidWorks Electrical. It was looked at but our global parent is going with Eplan which does schematics, 3d wiring, and harness drawings. Kind of similar to SWX Electrical. Not sure if it can draw harness as 2d only without a model though.

There are some other products on the market that do 2d only:
RapidHarness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_ndO3zmEYo
HarnesSys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrkeEoNInGw
Zuken E3.series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfVNqobTMsU

It’s a lot less stress not to be bothered with the top ten. It’s irrelevant, just not enough people are involved to get any idea of what the general user really needs/wants. The sooner it ends the better.

At this point, they need some sort of ā€œPR we listen to our customersā€ propaganda to display at SolidWorks 3DExperience World.

it was a lot better to do the survey when the compiled the enhancement request into just one long list of questions. Vote up and vote down each idea and submit instead of this special resubmit thing they got going on.

Wait a moment. What happened to the list??

VAR attack? :face_with_monocle:

#7 is a great idea, but it is more of a restructuring of the entire program than an enhancement.

6 reasons we still can’t switch to MBD

If they tackle that, it will probably be on their platform. I’m trying to wrap my head around how it would work. Massive project.

The old TolAnalyst add-in used Dimxpert to do tolerance stackup analysis. Not sure how well it worked, was a lot of work to get it setup.

First, fix #2. Then get everyone update to latest.

We’ll talk again in 10 years.

You use MBD/Dimxpert?

Tried.

CAM software are better at reading it. If CAD can export consistently.

CAD can export but can’t read it so you can’t check if everything is correct.

So it’s a crab shot if everything got through.

Voting closes at some point today!

On that whole list #4 is the only one I would ever use, assuming it’s implemented before May 31, 2028.

I’m hoping they split it out by product, there is so little here that is the core product.

Last snapshot before I log off for the day as it’s still open. Couple of (relatively) big number jumps.
