by now that new company is not going to be doing that. I miss the guys that used to run things. I have been on that for a few years now and they want to do their thing.

I’m happy to see that three of those ten are mine, though I suspect part of that is due to the diminished number of entries compared to years ago.

Save as file Type
I would really like to see this one make it kind of hard to find in the list. I don’t see # 5 ever being possible the way the program works today.

If you want the ability to specify a location or filename by browsing etc, it’s just 2 more clicks to pick the file type so it’s unlikely to get implemented. However, if you just want to save with the same name in the same folder, just a different type, it’s a pretty simple macro so also unlikely to get implemented but I bet you could find one pretty easily.

the Idea was to be able to have a command that you could add to the feature manager so it was one click to save as step stl or pdf instead of having to pick it out of the long list of available files. Then each user could customize the command manager to the type of files that they save out the most. One click to save as a dwg, ect.

At least that Turkish VAR isn’t spamming ERs for MBD this year.

thanks. I recall back in the day there were in the range of 100 likes for some of these top 10 if not more. Now 12 to 30 will get to decide what happens to the program for everyone that uses the program?

Yeah the numbers have been a bit depressing for the past few years. So far at least it’s a pretty solid Top Ten that’s largely focusing on core SW functions rather than being all MBD / electrical or something.

Thanks for the update @dave.laban !

It’s over with the top ten. The number of voters is so low, this can’t be a serious list. Some statements are, there are 8.000.000 SolidWorks users, other company info mentions 3.200.000 users. Any idea how many voters are involved in the TTL?

I think that anyone who is not glued to their cell phone and/or a social media user pretty much does not go on the 3Dexperiance sites, so that rules out a lot of us voting.

I only go there when I have a direct link, because trying to find something on there is a chore. Plus I couldn’t tell you how to actually vote for one of them.

There’s a ā€œLikeā€ option to click on near the bottom left corner of the original Idea post.

Even on the old forum, voting numbers were not great, but it was much higher than the 3dx site. The 3dx site is more difficult to navigate and is a poor choice for voting on ideas. If Dassault were really serious about this, they would use software dedicated to this type of thing.
