The platform is a dedicated software.
Jack of no trades, master of none
Iâd like to encourage votes for this one please. Itâs something I think almost everyone who designs machined components could benefit from.
Fillet All Concave Corners Connected to Start Loop
Itâs mind blowing to me that people are voting more for a dark mode theme, over fixing bugs, and making the software more stable.
So we are ok with the bugs and crashes, as long as it looks nicer. LOL ![]()

I think thereâs a level of pragmatism that could be seen in it. Adding PDM Dark Mode is one job. Fixing all the bugs is about 150,000 jobs (and shouldnât really need asking for anyway).
Top Ten as it currently stands (2025-11-17);
1 Dark Mode for PDM in Windows Explorer (30 likes)
2 Option for Linear Dimension Between Two Non-parallel Lines (22)
= Display States in Drawings (22)
4 Desktop SOLIDWORKS: Focus More On Fixing Bugs (21)
5 Faster, Modern BOM Editor in a Separate Window in SW assemblies and drawings (20)
6 Allow Re-naming Models from Drawing (19)
7 Multi-instance of SolidWorks (18)
= Desktop SOLIDWORKS: Substantially increase stability in SOLIDWORKS (18)
9 SPR 807836 â Fillet all Concave Corners Connected to Start Loop (17)
Iâm confused by #7. Donât we have that functionality already?
Sometimes my voting for an item is a bit more nuanced than âI just want the feature indicatedâ. There are areas of SolidWorks and PDM that I want work done on. If they are working in that area of the software for an ehancment, they are more likely to take a crack at other issues or enhancements in that area of the software. At least thatâs my logic, which may or may not be true.
Just like everything. People just need it to looks good. It doesnât need to work.
Top ten is just publicity show.
If you want real changes, join beta.
Just show them the bug/problem you want to fix in beta.
You donât need to test any new stuff, unless you want to.
If I can get them to fix something, you can do it too!
In addition to my previous comment and logic on how I vote sometimes, I did vote for this as it affected me recently. I run my apps in dark mode as I generally work in a dark environment, sometimes at night. And while everything in Windows was dark, PDM was blinding me like a flashlight in my face.
Unfortunately not if they are disciplined developers. Fix the thing in the bug report. Do not fix the other things you see. I could never be a professional developer because of that.
For bug fixing I see that being the case as those are usually handled case by case.
My logic (having my own devleopers on staff over the years), if they decide go into an area of the software to enhance it, and it looks to require a rewrite, they may evaluate over functionalty in that area as well, some bugs, and some new functions.
Kind of like deciding you want to upgrade the piston rods in your engine to handle more HP, you might decide to upgrade some other components while youâre in there.
I have posted about my issues with cutlists description that were translated in english around SW2021, an option that broke the backward compatibility and that was fixed in SW2022 Sp3, but I discovered that the devs excluded the sheetmetal cutlists from the fix, so we have two cutlist that behave in one way (fixed) and one still broken.
Inquired them via my VAR and they see no problem at all even if I gave them an example of broken legacy data. And they also broke API in the process.
Imagine if we had to make our machinery the way they make softwareâŚ
Requests like this are why I suggested they add a downvote button.
Down vote is exclusive. We canât have that. Lotâs of people will get offended.

Donât naysayers have protected status? At least thats what I gather from politicians.
I think stability improvement and eliminating defects would be an unwritten imperative for any software vendor and shouldnât have to be âvotedâ on to make it an imperative. The fact that this is a reality blows my mind.
Hi Kenny, This got me thinking, is GTAC still about the same as it was about five years ago?
