Have you ever wished you could add a post it note to your models?

I make custom parts for Trucks, but I often start from previous versions. I wish there was a way to leave a post it notes on a model. It would be so handy for reminders or highlighting critical details. I do recall seeing an engineer’s note somewhere, but don’t recall it being the right tool I am dreaming of here. Have any of you found anyway to leave your future self-detail notes on models.

You can add comments to individual features or use the Design Journal for all sorts of info.

you can comment on the first feature in the tree (from righ mouse button menu) and you can also make it appear when you open the file

I use the summary area to leave notes, like where the file was downloaded from.
You can use this.

I tried using the design binder to update a word document for some of this but either I lost the part or the design binder file in earlier versions and just kind of gave up using that because I would think I added info there and when I would get back to the part it would not be there.

This is what we do to our parts where we want to leave notes for future reference.

Nope.

Inventor Engineer Note.

It leave yellow post-it all over the assembly.

As mentioned, Comment on top of tree and set to open comment on opening file:

Or you could insert a “Notes Area” under Annotations. Then set it to Show on Open. This way is more finicky though and you have to make sure “View” top level annotation is on.

I have a few library Parts that I just attached notes to. It’s easy enough to hide it when it’s no longer needed.
