Let the games begin…
The best Star Trek movie ever made:

When I knew JJ had ruined the future (and past) of the franchise:

Yeah, they reboot the Khan character and totally miscast the recast.
Also, Abrams has no clue how to do the slow burn tense space battle. Those reboot movies have Shatner rolling in his grave…and he ain’t even dead yet.
There are many books and graphic novels regarding the Star Wars franchise and after Disney took over, most of them have been declared “legends” to introduce their own timeline resulting in e.g. Rey being Sheev Palpatine’s granddaughter and other nonsense …
This is a company failure at so many levels. They developed one of the most beloved franchises, with one of the most critical fan bases, with no plan? That level of incompetence and/or arrogance is just beyond me.
I can only blame J.J Abrams and Rian Johnson so far…someone else gave them free range to do what they wanted with no oversight. I blame Kathleen Kennedy mostly.
Sounds like someone else we discuss regularly.
I stumbled across this yesterday. He makes a lot of good points.

“I am your mother.”
They had material already that was good and accepted by the community. Rey and Kylo Ren should’ve been Jaina and Jacen Solo. They wouldn’t be able to do the early years due to actor ages but could’ve handled it in flashbacks.
Disney literally had material handed to them on a silver platter.

“The Falling Apart” … now, that is a far away heading. **
But it didn’t follow Disney’s stories.
Need a happy ending.
All they need to do was make movies from all the books.
In my mind for the last 30 years, the Thrawn series has been the true sequels (Episodes 7-9).
This problem is apparently contagious. Looking at you Amazon and your Rings of Power series.

In other words, “We’ve run out of ideas for new movies.”
