Weldments: proper way to skip item numbers?

When handling a weldment drawing to a supplier we keep the item numbering between revisions: if a weldment body and its cutlist is gone, the row number is just skipped so the supplier do not get confused with the old drawing and the new drawing numbering mixing up. They can just compare the same list and see what changed with little risk of misunderstanding.

Is there a proper way to handle this use case while preserving the link between cut list order in the 3D and 2D?

My workaround is to make some dummy extrusions to take the skipped row numbers, lock the cutlist table, delete the dummy features from the tree.

Too much work imho.

Adding empty rows to the cutlist seems to trigger a lot of work to change numbers manually or just cut the link with the 3D order…

on a side note:

it happens every other version of SW, so my recalling could be failIng. I think the cutlist items order in the 3D was linked to the 2D welding table unless you moved the rows manually in the drawing.

with 2023 it seems you need to remake the table to reflect changes in the 3d order.

regression??

When Possible I like to use the SolidWorks BOM with weldments. Where the option to be able to keep missing item # is available for use. It is a bit of a pain when reordering the BOM, for the initial set up but would be ideal for when changes are made to the drawing.
