Watercooler Talk

That thing is huge, but has a lot of bells and whistles

Yeah, most of the rentable ones are very similar to this and we don’t use enough to buy one, so we stick with the rentable ones.

One of my uncle built one, but it’s not really transportable

irrelevant to matters, but I’m curious.
I always keep a sponge under my elbow. otherwise my arm always goes numb.
How do you guys work?

Hey Omur,

I get a numb arm when my elbow is dangling in the air, not pressed against a surface, so generally when working I will setup my chair so that the arms arrive flush with the desk surface.

Have you tried a vertical mouse? A few of my co-workers work with this in order to not get a wrist tendonitis

Like AlexLachance says, I set up my chair so my arms are flat or slightly above the surface. Plus, I got a desk with a curved edge so that I don’t get a sharp edge in my arm. Plus, I use a trackball, so my right hand stays mostly stationary and doesn’t have to keep repositioning, especially the wrist.

Frankly I thought but I don’t know if I can get used to it.
If I request it from the company and cannot use it, it would not be nice, I would spend unnecessary costs. I looked around for someone using this mouse to try it, but there isn’t.
frankly i’m wondering, is it useful?

2 of the guys I work with were suffering from tendonitis and switching to this mouse has solved their pains. I personally don’t like it but if I were to have the same issue I would most likely adapt.

To avoid long-term injuries, your shoulder has to be “loose”, not “pushing upwards”, and your elbow needs to do a nice 90degree. If you have to lift the elbow, your mouse sensitivity is not high enough. At least, that is my opinion.

I did a Hawaiian Style pig roast for a few years. Dug a pit in the field, lined the bottom with a bunch of granite rocks 4-8in in Dia. Placed probably 1/4-1/2 face cord over the rocks and set it on fire. I then wrapped the piggy up in a combination of wet cheese cloth and an outer layer of a few layers of commercial aluminum foil.

After the wood burnt down to nice glowing embers I dropped the pig in and burried the entire thing in dirt around 4-6PM. Noon to one the next day I dug it up. I buried it with 4-6 steel loops around the piggy. Threw a pole thru the hoops and pulled the piggy out. Unwrap, eat.

Worked very well except the one year we had a torrential downpour. Bottom side of the piggy was cooked…top side, not so much. Had to break out the grill.

If I were to do it again I would probably try to find a big piece of semi flexible sheet metal and place that over the wrapped piggy after putting a small layer of dirt over it and then burry it deeper. Biggest pain was getting the dirt off without stabbing the pig. I figure surround the pig with dirt, enough to absorb the direct heat, cover and bury to keep the heat in. You can then aggressively dig it out to the sheet metal, pull the sheet metal out and probably pull the pig out.

Alot of work but kinda fun.

My desk is L-shaped. I face the left half, and my entire forearm rests on the right half. Mouse is (at the center) where the two meet. It is comfortable to me, but I admit that my mouse hand rests a foot (~30cm) from my keyboard.

For a few days I had been looking for a method similar to Frederick 's for my elbows. I don’t want to raise the chair because then I’m sitting hunched over (back pain). Yes I will take the risk for my wrists and ask for this mouse.
matt I don’t think my boss will get a 3d mouse or trackball. these devices are quite expensive in Turkey.

My dog had seizures again last night. Not much rest.
Simple prayer request for comfort and health.

You’re tall, aren’t you Omur? I’m 5’6"(168cm) so I don’t face this issue haha

From my understanding, either the chair is not made for you, or your desk could be a little higher for you.

Wish you the best Tom, hang in there

That does sound like a lot of work, but the trick is long and slow, best in lovin and cookin

I’m 1.82cm (71.6")
Yes, the tables are higher than standards. (10cm)
Maybe I should shorten the legs of the table. (If the boss permits)

My Wife’s a vegan. I’d pull the pig out, cut enough up, well pull apart enough, for people to eat and then go take a shower. Every year when I came back down to eat, the pigs head was covered with a towel.

I got my own mouse, two, one at home and one at work.
Got my own 3D mouse also. Found one at work. Someone ordered but didn’t like it.

At other job, I bring my LCD for second screen.

Whatever I need to do my job. Just a lot to carry when they send me home. One cardboard box is not enough ;;

They do sell moving vans

Easy to rent one from HomeDepot if they let me know I’ll be going home before I go to work grumph
