Post a screen shot of the “Modify” box right before you see this message.
Not all entry box are created equal.
hi agai,
here you go:
typed in 1”
and its stuck, so not sure what’s up
I found it is making equations never seen this before or how to turn off

What happens if you enter something like
3+5
no other punctuation/symbols.
If you still get an error, your VBA installation is probably corrupt.
Alternately, can you enter your 1" into this box?
What happens if you enter msgbox(“Hello World”) into that box? Do you get this?
Note that once you click “OK”, the dimension will get the value of 1.
Hi,
I can type in the dialog on the left,
typing in the box 1+2 turns to 3 on both,
1” does turn into 25.4 only after I close or green check the dialog on the left
hello world gets this:
and this:
I just closed down SolidWorks and restarted and all is good, dumb thing likes to mess with us…

Jim
Glad that fixed it…
Just a small note that’s now a bit of a moo point: my suggestion was to type msgbox(“Hello World”), not just Hello World…
It’s a moo point. It’s moo. It’s like a cow’s opinion. It doesn’t matter!

Hi again,
Yes figured it was just a see if thing, cheers got to luv how all one minute everything works like it should and then all sideways..

Jim
I get this all the time. The problem occurs when I think I’m typing somewhere, like a spreadsheet or web address, but SW still has the focus and my typing gets entered in the dimension value. The point is that if you enter something SW doesn’t recognize as a number or equation, it will offer to create a variable.
This kind of things happens sometimes when I have large assemblies open. There is a lag in when double clicking the box and you end up typing in the wrong box.
