Does any one have a library of machine screw threads for Solid works 2022.

I have written this up as I couldn’t find anything close to the standard.

I am creating a reverse thread screw so that can drive 2 nuts toward each other and away from each other.

Configuring it on a web site to get a dumb model take to long every time you want to do changes to the design I would rather create an editable model and tweak it as I package everything in

The fasteners I download from McMaster are fully featured models, not just a dumb body.

They also have models of Acme (lead screw) threads. That doesn’t look like a match for what you’ve drawn, however.

Not to be “that guy”, but…

Why are you modeling threads?

Are you rapid prototyping them?

If not, you are inflicting a world of pain on yourself.

Get more than 1 or 2 of these inserted into an assembly and you will suddenly have plenty of time for coffee.

Long ago and far away I was a VAR and did training.

The first thing EVERYONE wanted to do was model threads. “It’s soooo cooool!”

So we did. I made it a point to create the models with 2 configurations, threaded and unthreaded.

After they ooh-ed and ahhh-ed, I had them start dropping copies of the threaded part into an assembly.

Then the light went off. I had them do the same with the unthreaded ones and the lesson was complete.

It is much faster and easier to go to an ACE Hardware and buy a few nuts and bolts instead of trying to put threads in a model for printing. When I do get some special hardware downloaded from McMaster the first thing I do after opening the download file is delete the features that make the treads on them before saving them into my project.

It for a reverse threaded bar you have LH and RH thread on the bar and a gap in the middle.

A cosmetic thread wouldn’t show clearly an I have forgotten how to do cometic thread setup.

yes I do try and avoid putting threads on parts but in this case tread geometry drives the movement of a mechanism. I have over 20 year experience with SW.

its a very dirty way to do threads. The threading tool is much easier if you know how and the library can be reused, so you don’t have to create the features on different parts.

Hence McMaster, download and slice and dice the file.

I had to make a custom gear for a student, I took 2 different gears from McMaster, put them together in a part file, combined them together, filled the hole to a D shape then added a set screw hole on the side for a brass threaded insert, 3D printed out of PC and bam, done!

you could take the threaded rod, cut to size for the right, offset a plane half the distance of the middle gap then mirror the right to a left, then model the gap and BAM, done.
