Anyone installed SP 5 for SW2025?

I did last week. Been behaving pretty good till yesterday.

I’m not sure yet what I did wrong but I ended up with a blank white SolidWorks screen & a blue spinning circle that the only way out was to kill SW through the task manager. It happened twice yesterday about 4 hours apart. Once before lunch & once after. Don’t ask me what I was doing/did when it happened as I could not remember after the fact what I did! Maybe if it would have happened back to back I would have remembered!

On a side note I did not know when I started this job & started using SolidWorks that beta testing was included in the job description!

OK I am back with a bit more info. When I typed the above post I had not yet looked at SW. When I clicked on my SW Icon in the task manager a blank white screen came up & I remembered that I left work with the blank white screen & blue circle spinning hopping that overnight SW might complete whatever process that caused the issue. I then clicked in the area of the SW screen that would normally contain the “X” to close SW and message popped up stating that by closing SW I may lose unsaved changes. Do I want to close or wait for SW to complete the running process. I decided to click close and see what happens. After a bit I get the SW crash screen were I could send a note to SW and close or restart SW. When I clicked restart SWrx popped up a message that SW crashed due to a graphics issue. The message said, Try turning off enhanced graphics and/or check to see if you are running a certified graphics card.

So I am thinking that it may have been the offending enhanced graphics check box getting turned on during the install. (I don’t remember if it was check on or not in the previous version).

Would be interested to hear if you learn anything more. We were just talking about updating around here yesterday, but have not yet.

What graphics card do you have?

I had to look as I could not remember. And no I have not checked if it was certified for SW2025 sp5 but it seemed to work ok with sp4 though like I said in the past I have had the enhanced graphics turned off but I honestly cannot remember if it was turned off for the last several updates or not.

2016 card, I would definetly turn off that enhanced graphics option. I had an GeForce RTX 2700 in my home machine that would glitch out with that setting pretty bad, mostly with just sketch dimensions and drawings. My new rig has the GeForce RTX 5700 TI and it seems to work fine with the enhanced graphics setting.

I turned off enhanced graphics, but just got a new laptop. Should I give it another try?

I have it on with my new rig, been working fine so far.

0n 2024 (and I think 2023) I have fewer glitches with enhanced graphics on.
