SW file moving using Win utility

In Win-10 file explorer, when I right hand click a file > Solidworks > Move file > (define a folder path) it works well enough. If I move a part it knows if there is an associated drawing & confirms you want that moved too which is nice (but not the other way around).

But

  1. it would be nice if it would remember the last subfolder destination as a likely target for the next one. Instead it defaults to the folder the part currently resides in. So click-click-click… with every file. Is there a shorter, more efficient way or setting that controls this?

  2. Because… it does not seem to like if I pre-select multiple files to move to another folder. I can see this would be problematic with re-naming but moving shouldn’t be an issue. Am I missing something?

(I’m aware of pack & go but I’m trying to physically move part files elsewhere & have any of their associations maintained to other assemblies which reference them.

Try Bibotac. With it you can use Windows Explorer directly to manage your files without loosing links (You can rename or move, cut and paste folders or files).

Very interesting, thanks! I never heard of Bibotac before

what I do is once I have the folder I setup is go to the folder string in the explore bar and copy the location then when you have to move many you just paste the address and Bam done.
