Solid Edge Sheet Metal Guidance

Dear Experts,

I am trying to model a tank with sheet metal in Solid Edge 2025. But I am having issues while aligning the flange faces. Could some please guide me how to model such thing?

I am new here and trying to attach the photo, but it won’t let me. So I am sharing the step file for you.

Tank.stp (1.0 MB)

Thanks

Umar

Hi,

can you share the SE assembly files? Like Pack and Go zipped file?

thanks,

Arek

Hi Arekkul,

Thanks for your comment, right now I only have step file that I shared. I need to convert it into the Solid Edge file with Sheet metal functionality.

That stp file looks like about eight sheet metal parts and a bunch of strip stock parts. I don’t think I would try to make them as one psm file. Could start with a master sketch in an assembly file and let that drive the model in the various psm files.

Turn off sync, use ordered mode IMO. Unless you’re already super handy with sync modeling methodology.

Actually I am not concerned with the small parts, I am stuck with side walls.

Could you please provide me some hints/supports to make the tank walls?

Hi,

Hi,

I used Synchronous to do this.

How did you align the edges from diagonal flange and bottom 45degree flange?

With reference to my photo I am stuck at aligning Body 1 and Body 2 (Blue). Furthermore, do you see the miter (Orange arrow) I am stuck at that as well.

I am doing it in ordered mode. Are you in assembly or sheet metal design?

Hi,

what I did to the file:

  1. hidden all strips.
  2. moved all sheets to Synchronous
  3. clicked the edge surface or multiple edge surfaces - in blue of the flange and moved it to the desire position

ahh, almost forgotten - before moving files to Synch, I did Optimisation of the files.

Oh! I have to do it from scratch.

My goal is to build this tank from scratch by taking the dimensions from step file.

Can you try it in ordered mode?

you can try anything you want in both modes.

It would be easier to offer assistance if you told us what you’ve been able to do, and what you are struggling with.

Thanks for your comment, so here I am stuck, I am trying to match these 2 faces but it keeps giving me this error.
