Siemens Realize Live 2025

On Monday, the Siemens Realize Live 2025 conference starts. is there anything you want me to find out about? And by anything, I mean anything as long as it’s related to AI. I get the sense that’s all we’re going to hear about this session.

The conference is in Detroit. I had been enjoying Vegas, but we’ll see what Detroit has to offer. It’s a closer plane ride, I know I’ll enjoy that.

I’ll make sure to follow up and post my reactions here. In the past I would post my summary and impressions on my Dezignstuff blog, but since that is now defunct, with the rest of my online presence, I’ll just do it here.

Matt, in case you get bored, I’m only 1.5 hours north of Detroit.

I’m not planning to be there because it’s way too expensive for a small company like us.

yes please what’s new for CAM in SolidEdge for EDU

I’m here in the keynote general session, and I’m just kind of overwhelmed. There is SO much here. SolidEdge is a tiny part of it. I talked to an NX guy for a while and I’m just astounded by what it can do. I came pretty close to k owing everything SW could do, and NX is multiples of that.

Anyway, I expect most of this week to be about AI. But I guess I’m about to find out what else is on tap. Stay tuned. Magnus says this is the biggest RL crowd ever.

@len_1962 Solid Edge has one booth in the vendor area. They told me SE Cam is really NX Cam {essentially “go ask them” } and NX Cam booth was combined with a dozen other things. So, I didn’t get an answer.

But I saw an SE25 and even 26 demo, and it all looks good. Unfortunately “looks good” means “looks more like SW than ever before”.

Not surprising. Dassault is moving some SolidWorks auxillary tools to SolidWorks 3dx (aka Catia with a different label). Sustainability for example, some simulation, and probably more to come. Maybe makes sense since its a niche area, still, I dislike cloud subscriptions for software.

Anything on PDM/PLM for SE? I’m guessing still Teamcenter but it seems overkill for the typcial SE user.

thanx for checking I’ll ask them

There’s Teamcenter X, which I think is a cut down version and it’s online, so I assume you don’t have to install, purchase or maintain a database. You get that bundled with a Solid Edge X license.

@jcapriotti See Teamcenter X Essentials ( Teamcenter X Essentials). It’s the lowest offering of Teamcenter X and is essentially just the traditional CAD PDM tool. As Matt said, the Teamcenter X product line is hosted by Siemens in the cloud. There is also Teamcenter Share which is kind of like SharePoint for CAD, but also cloud.

Can’t find much on it on Youtube and elsewhere. Just this video, who is this video geared toward? It shows a bunch of actors with ipads and like 10 seconds total of screens of NX and TC (No Solid Edge in there anywhere). I think I probably trust Siemens a little more than Dassault at this point but their marketing people went to school together.

Teamcenter X is a Siemens cloud hosted version of Teamcenter. There is functionally no difference. Teamcenter X has plans which include different license levels that range from the Essentials plan which is basic PDM functionality that is useable “out of the box” all the way up to Premium which include pretty much everything.

Here is the page for the Teamcenter X plans:

Thanks Kenny for the info.

Gotta love how clicking on “plans and pricing” leads to another page that says “Contact Sales” .

When I started looking at 3DX offer, even my VAR did not known the real final costs, as they depend also on your storage capacity and you will be invoiced accordingly, but at that point the documents with the real commercial conditions start to resemble a smoke grenade.
