Rotate about Global Axis

Is it possible to dynamically rotate about X, Y or Z on the global axis by set increments ?

For example in other CAD software I can hold down X and then use the cursor keys to rotate by, say 10 deg, about X with each press of the key.

Yes (shift + arrow keys to rotate 90°, and just arrow keys rotate 15°), and you can find the list of the keys combinations here https://help.solidworks.com/2022/English/SolidWorks/sldworks/c_time_saving_keyboard_shortcuts.htm

SHIFT + Arrow keys rotates 90 (up/down is fore/aft, Left/right is left/right about vertical global axis).
Arrow keys are same but smaller increments (see below)

To rotate clockwise/counterclockwise, add ALT into the mix (ALT + arrow keys).

To control the number of degrees when you just use arrow keys (or ALT+arrows), change this setting:

You can also select the axis by clicking on the little axis arrows in the bottom left corner. This will bring your view normal to that axis:

Thanks all.

I can see how this allows dynamic rotation about the screen vertical and horizontal axis and spinning about the screen Z axis but that’s not what I want.

By “Global Axis” I mean the red, green, blue axis as in Dan’s image. i.e for example lock the blue Z axis and spin the red X and green Y axis about it. I’ll try and do a quick animation of how my other software does this (Autodesk Simulation Mechanical).

You can select the desired axis (by clicking on one of those arrows), and then use the arrow keys to rotate around that axis.

Hold down SHIFT and click any of those colored arrows.

Holding down SHIFT and clicking the Z axis will roll around the z axis by 90 degrees. CTRL + SHIFT will roll the other direction.

Holding down ALT while clicking one of those arrows will rotate it by the increment defined above.

ALT + CTRL will go the other direction.

That’s it ! thanks

No problem. I originally thought that you meant perpendicular to the screen.
