I went through three or four days working with a Trimech tech trying to solve a Design Table issue I had. My problem was using the right-click menu item “Open Table” under configuration tables, which did not open a Solidworks window of the table that allows the border to be set and instead opened an Excel window. The fix was selecting “Optimize for best appearance” in the Excel options AND cycling through one failed opening. After the one fail with the “best appearance” setting, “Edit Table” began working correctly.
Trimech has reports saying some users found instead that the “Optimize for compatibility” setting solved their issue. If you are not having this problem, I’d leave those settings alone. If you do have this problem, you can try changing the Excel user interface settings.
