PathCopyCopy--easy way to get file names and paths

Breaking in a new laptop. Adding all my favorite tools.

PathCopyCopy is one of my absoute must-haves. Right-click on any file or folder in Windows explorer, and you can copy the file name, parent path, or full path. Commands available for network paths as well.

I’ve been using it for years with much appreciation and zero trouble.

In Windows, you can get the full path by Shift-right clicking the file and selecting ‘Copy As path’.

Thanks, JSCulley. I had forgotten about that.

I am habituated to PathCopyCopy becaue I like the ability to get the network paths. Helpful when not everyone on the system has the same letter designations on their network drives.

A good shortcut that works in any browser is Ctrl+L which will always take you to the browser address bar, from there it’s Ctrl+A and Ctrl+C to get the full directory or website (of course if it’s a mapped drive on Windows, it won’t get you the full network path, for that I use PowerShell and Get-Location).

I love pathcopycopy.

There is another option for the most out-of-box experience with Windows. If you have a Microsoft Office app open, and you want to attach a file’s full network path, you can RIGHT-Mouse-Button-Drag the file into the doc/message/etc, and select ‘Create Hyperlink Here’.
