A couple of times in the last day or so I’ve replied to a post, and clicked the icon to show the reply being quoted. Then when I post my reply the quoted text box shows up for a second or so, and then it’s gone.
Am I doing something wrong?

I thought that happened to me too, but next time the quoted text worked fine. I just figured I glitched and moved on.
I don’t quite understand your description. Is this happening when you are composing your reply? Or after you have submitted your reply and are viewing the topic where you posted the reply?
Is this happening with a reply to the original topic, or a reply to someone else’s reply? Or Both?
Which icon are you talking about here?
Are you quoting the entire post using the ‘Quote whole post’ button in the reply editor? Or are you selecting text and using the ‘Quote’ popup?
Is there a post you can link to where this happened?
I’m talking about this icon.
And it happens when I hit the Reply button to post what I just wrote. The quoted part will show up briefly, and then it’s gone.

Oh wow. Look at this:
You post shows up as edited. And when I look at how it was edited, it shows this:
So the system is automatically editing the post to remove the quote. Must be a setting… and here it is:
The rationale for why the setting is a good idea is here:
The upper right corner of the post header shows which post has been replied to and you can click on it to see the post.
I deleted most of the quoted reply to see if that makes it work.
Edit: Yep. It looks like that’s what I need to do moving forward. Thanks Jim.
