Let's See Your Pets

Todd Blacksher had made a post back in 2018 to the old SOLIDWORKS Forum and like most popular, long, image filled posts, Dassault absolutely disassembled it in the migration to the SWYMp. The post requested that people post pictures of their pets.

Last Thursday, my wife and I had to say goodbye to this guy, after a brief, brave fight with lymphoma:

Rudy was only 10 years old, and only after his passing did we realize how much of our lives revolved around him. He was what’s known as a ‘reactive’ dog, which for him meant that anyone who wasn’t me, my wife, or his pal Utah:

was the enemy. Full stop. So, for ten years, we did what was necessary to keep him safe and happy while also keeping the few guests and visitors we’ve had from interacting with him. He was basically our constant companion in the house, quietly going where we went and making sure we were ‘safe’ from whatever.

The house is now eerily quiet. Utah is still here, but her energy/vibe/whatever has always been completely different, so there’s this big empty feeling. We’ve said goodbye to many dogs over the years but this one just hit different, and I think it’s because he’s the only dog we’ve had for whom we were his entire world. Nothing important existed for him outside his pack: me, my wife and his pal Utah.

In honor of Rudy, post some pics of your pets in happier times.

This is my current pack. Merlin is the smooth coat male, and Cassie is the rough coat female. For the last 25 years, all of my dogs have come from rescue, and the vast majority from Collie Rescue of the Carolinas.

Got this picture this weekend. The puppy that a vet wanted to put down earlier this year, and the two cats.

Shelby, my energetic furry ball.

She’ll be 11 this year, I hope she lives a few more years, she’s a happy dog, chasing squirrels in the forest at my family’s wood lot.

This is Ranger, my crazy 4 year old Labrador Retriever.

Our Kodi ( our third Golden in so many years)

Spencer would like you to know that he too likes snacks. He’s also a reactive dog, but not as much as @JimSculley ‘s Rudy.

If I’d been faster with the camera, you would have seen his head on the table reaching for the bowl while we were sitting right there.

The neighbor did not want to keep this poor kitty that was left by her kids. The little lady brought her home last night and she is starting to get adjusted. Found this nice little hiding place for now. Almost a 100% free cat, came with littler box and food. Even got info from the last vet visit.

I’m not a cat person but thanks for taking her in, it’s always sad when a domestic animal is abandonned.

Once again the vet said that this little girl was not going to make it. A few days later with some medication a neighbor let us use and some hydro therapy she is back chasing the cat around the house.

Wow the cat grow a lot

This is my dog

Utah has been seeming lonely since Rudy’s passing so on Sunday we adopted this guy from the county shelter

He’s currently decompressing for a couple of weeks in the basement before we introduce them to each other.

I’m sorry that Rudy has passed, but you have a cute new addition. I hope the meeting between them goes well when it gets to happen.

We got the brown puppy a few weeks ago. Our older dog enjoys him in small doses and often asks to be allowed to stay in a separate room. They do enjoy wrestling. Here they are hoping that we’ll share lunch.
