I don’t use forum’s default theme. It makes me crazy seeing the title of the first post above all and every reply, and in such a big and bold font (just like the header of a breaking news in our daily paper)
Though the color is not perfect, but I find Breeze theme in many ways better. At least it hides the bold title above every reply. And I like used font-family better.
Now “Jump to first unread post” link above page is gone. so it’s hard to find which posts are new inside a thread.
Is there any other way to find new posts within a thread?
(I hate the fact that themes change layout and functionality, not just colors.)
I browse the forums by going to the “unread posts” link.
From there, a list of unread posts appear. On that list, in the upper left of each post is an icon to take you to the first unread post in that thread. I will try and provide a screenshot later when I have unread posts.
I’m not sure if that functionality is available in all themes.
Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately breeze link doesn’t contain this function.
I’ll try another theme. But as far as I remember, all other themes show the title of the post above all replies.
One of the reasons this is done in most of the themes is that you can change the title of individual posts within a thread. I used to use the Breeze theme too, but for those times when the title of an individual post or branch within a thread is changed, I use something else.
I tried to accommodate a range of tastes in the theme selection. If you find a phpbb theme you prefer, I can see if it will work with our site. For just the situation that you mention, there is the Elegance theme, which comes in several colors. All the interface elements are in the same place.
I tried a few different themes when the board first opened. Between not being able to find the same functionality, and different color backgrounds not working with different color text (for my eyes anyway,) I went back to plain Elegance. Now that I’m used to it, it’s fine.
Me too. But someone who will go unnamed (actually many people) use the sarcasm font regularly. And purple on grey is damn near impossible for me to read.
