How to transform a flat extrude into a curved object

Say I want to model a label that will be applied to the outer surface of a cylinder.

I’d like to create a Sketch, use the “Text” entity, extrude the text a few thousandths of an inch, then, in a subsequent feature, “bend” the extrude to an 8” radius to later mate it to a 16” dia. cylinder.

How would this be done?

I’ve made curved labels in the past by extruding a thin cylinder (the label “substrate”), then doing a scribed wrap onto the cylinder, then a Delete Face. This method works, but it runs off the tracks if a double-nested contour exists.

Thanks for any help.

Use the Flex feature. I have a post somewhere about this but I’ll be darned if I can find it. It think it is somewhere in the SWYMP.
