Hole Wizard favorites file location and styles

All

We just went from 2022 to 2024, and I have a user who had problems creating a hole wizard hole. I may have screwed up the settings or locations of things, so I would like to learn how it should be done.

In our department, users have Toolbox on their local drive. There is a master Toolbox on the server that we edit occasionally with additions and corrections, and users have a BAT to run that updates their local Toolbox. This all works well, and we’d like to keep things this way.

We have Hole Wizard styles in a server folder, which everyone shares. User settings include a file location setting that the “Hole Wizard Favorite Database” location is that folder.

So now, post upgrade, I have a user who tried to run Hole Wizard but got an error box saying they need write permission in the Hole Wizard folder to run Hole Wizard. I haven’t seen this error before upgrading to 2024. I went into folder security and gave “everyone” write privileges to that folder, which temporarily fixed the problem, but the privilege didn’t stick over the weekend.

I’ll continue to work on the write privileges, but maybe we have to put Hole Wizard favorites on all the local drives and use the Toolbox update BAT file to update the Hole Wizard favorites as well. I don’t know why we are having this problem now. Did something change for 2024? Is this issue familiar to anyone?

Thanks

Dwight

I edited the title, changing “holecallout” to “Hole WIzard”. This should have nothing to do with the holecallout file.

Dwight,

Is your VAR one of the good ones? If yes, they should be able to help, if no one here has any ideas.

My VAR is good. I did decide to go ahead and move Hole Wizard favorite to the local drives. I didn’t realize our Toolbox batch file was already updating the default Hole Wizard folder anyway.
