Migrating data to a new system without thoroughly cleansing the data, in order to meet an arbitrary deadline. Effectively making the data in the new system worse than the old system.

My company doesn’t clean their data; they just keep building and integrating new stuff on top of their mangled data they barely understand. Sitting in meetings with people making five times what I do, listening to them butcher how data pipelines work, has helped me truly understand why hearsay is invalid in a court of law.
Sales keep sending rush jobs with their own part numbers.
Engineering and management have no idea what they are.
I love it when sales sells something that hasn’t been discussed with engineering. “All you have to do is…”
me to the salesman: “can you ask the customer what they mean by this note on the print”
salesman to me: “no, its our job to know what they mean, we’ll look incompetent if we ask. just google it”

how about this one. Use the drawings from the one built 38 years ago. And nothing is right and there are so many missing parts that never got documented.
I think we got a few of those. The machine with the special tools is not here anymore.
We had some old scanned hand drawings kind of like that. I modeled them in SolidWorks and couldn’t assemble them. Turns out that there must’ve been verbal changes made that weren’t documented on the drawings, so some dimensions were wrong.
We have an entire welding machine system that we built 140 of, used for 30 years and then repurposed to our divisions in less wealthy regions of the world when we upgraded the design. Our IT department has ‘disappeared’ all of the CAD drawings, BOMs etc. Because, you know, they were old and taking up space. The entire CAD file package (200+ parts) created with CADKEY was probably smaller in size than 10 average SOLIDWORKS drawings.
Last week we received a request to find non-obsolete replacement parts for the systems we sent to India. Hard to fulfill that request when no one knows what parts are in the thing. Sad part is, I was here when the original system was at the height of its use and I know exactly where the files should be, but the root parent folder is completely empty. Thanks guys, hope you have plenty of space now to plaster middle school graduation photos of employee’s children on big screen monitors all over the building.

It appears BambuLab has been taking lessons from Solidworks. It has a feature where the software will look at the model and determine which face should be on the build plate for best results. In the past, that has always been accomplished by a rotation around a single axis. Not any more. What’s worse, even if the best face is already on the build plate, it applies a random rotation.
They hired programmer from SW.
wait it will be coming that it will say the part you want to make can’t be printed because it is an illegal shape.

They say a lot, yet nothing at all.
And they forgot it’s part of their resume they’re posting.
