The customer supplied a print they wanted us to copy. Last time I checked an isosceles right triangle can’t have 2 different leg lengths (10mm and .25")
When scaling the drawing, the 45 degrees is correct. The 10mm is not.
Is the 10mm wrong, or is the 1/2" wrong? Just eyballing it, the 10 looks to be roughly in proportion to the 7, 23, and 113. If the 1/2" is actually right, I’m very curious as to what the document units are. On the other hand, it looks like the scale might be about right if that’s a 1" thread.
LOL seeing more of the print, the hex corner-to-corner is smaller than the thread. The hex flats are dimensioned at 3/4". 1" is the only thread size than makes sense. Although how many actual TPI is still a question.
After doing more digging, I found the mating part and it is a 1" thread. 20 minutes of my life I’m never getting back.
Me, 2 weeks ago: Air compressor A is offline. The drain valve is frozen open and I won’t be able to resolve this until the temperatures rise.
The machine shop, every day since then: I turned on compressor A and we don’t have any air pressure. Have you fixed it yet?
So, in the absence of any other info, my first thought is to point a kerosene heater or something at it and thaw it out. Of course if that were actually an option you would have done it already. For a curious person, what sort of circumstance makes it such that thawing it with some sort of manmade heat source is infeasible? Or is it just that you have plenty of compressors and it’s no hindrance to productivity to just use compressor B?

Lots of reasons. Mainly compressor B is running just fine. The heater I ordered from Amazon was DOA, and I didn’t feel like trying to work on it with a high of 30 for most of the last 2 weeks.
Shame on me for not marking the breaker to make it obvious that the unit was out of service, but we are a small shop and I thought I had communicated the situation. Clearly I was wrong.
I’ve found that one can communicate to people until he/she is blue in the face, but unless the information has immediate impact to the subject’s task at hand it is out the other ear before he/she is done speaking.
Highs below 30? We went a week or so without breaking single digits, on the top side.
I cannot argue that.
Today’s pet peeve:
My company laptop runs so slow due to all the constant security updates, scans, authentication which is dragging down the laptop performance running all apps to the point of being frustratingly unusable during working meetings.
There is a new guy in the machine shop who loves his air hose. He literally runs it almost non-stop. He is especially fond of trying to get chips out of holes so that it makes a 100 dB whistle that goes right through hearing protection.

guys that know components need to we wired up but don’t leave any room to run the wires. Then suggest things like it is easy to drill thru a 2" plate.

Regardless of what you think of AI, this is a problem. I wanted to get a flashdrive for my 3dprinter to record.
Can’t be good across the industry based on how much we depend on computers for everything. Phones, PCs, laptops, factory equipment.
I asked AI how long this will last. Maybe it shouldn’t been so polite and just told me to suck it up and deal with it, AI is the future. 
Western Digital already sold all 2026 SSD production before March.
Not a good time to buy memory or drive.
Don’t know how much this affect HDD.
3D printer don’t need fast drive and G-Code files are not big. Probably got 1T HDD laptop drive sitting somewhere.
