I’ve got a like new , used once Keychron K4 mechanical keyboard for sale. I plugged it in, typed a couple of sentences, and then unplugged it. I’m a bit of a keyboard snob because I do a lot of typing, and thought this was just the thing for me. But it was just too loud. If this is your kind of thing, then great. It includes some cool lighting effects.
I think it’s just retrogrouch nostalgia. The travel is greater than an optical keyboard. The racket is deafening, especially if you type like me - like a friggin jackhammer. It makes you sound like you’re in a 1990s cyber thriller movie.
Gaming, you get more tactile feedback. It is much louder. I have a Patriot Viper v770 with Kailh Red switches which are sensitive as hell. Since I can’t properly type, I make more mistakes than usual as just pressing the key a tiny amount registers. Great for gaming though.
Not smooth at all.
It give a positive “click” so you know you did pressed the key.
Other soft keyboard might not get the “key” if you type too fast.
It would be “fatal” in a game
And, this thing is loud.
Loud as a typewriter.
Loud as you can hear echo from the wall.

Mechanical keyboardsfeel much nicer to type on and also often sound nicer.
I have a Keychron K2 V2 with silent Brown switches. I’m really happy with it and it’s much quieter than the Corsair K70 it replaced.
