DRM for CAD

CADChain popped up on my LinkedIn feed & after a lot of head scratching, I think they are working on DRM for CAD data, sounds like an interesting project. Was going to post this in the “Future of CAD” thread, but thought it warranted its own thread.

Wow. That’s great information. I wish this had been around when GrabCAD started by stealing CAD data from people around the web. This is overdue. Hopefully it will be easy to use and track. Thanks for posting!

Blockchain is being looked at for 3D printing too. The last thing most companies want is for a competitor to be able to grab your STL or similar parts and start manufacturing what you just spend many $$$ and hours creating. Perhaps as important is someone tampering with the file in a way that screws it up and makes you look bad.

This could kill blockchain.

Also as the chain get longer, it take longer to process.

“I got your STEP file. I’ll need 11394587345 Years to verify the file. Unless you have a botnet I can use.”

..where there is a will there’s a way… and history consistently shows us bad actors always find a way.

Since when did copy protection prevented anything form being copied?
