This is one of the silliest ideas that they hang their hat on like its a GOOD thing. It reminds me of my very first CAD class in college.
The instructor was praying and hoping that he didn’t have to teach Computer 101 before teaching CAD 101. So, he asks for a show of hands of those who are experienced and who know how to use a computer. Everyone in the class raises their hands. He breathes a sigh of relief and says we’ll skip the computer basics then, that will speed things up. He then says, “Ok, lets start a new drawing by going to File > New…” Immediately THREE hands shoot up. He calls on one…“How do I do that?”
Just go full interrobang on the icon, because a) never pass up the opportunity to use the symbol and b) never pass up the opportunity to use the word interrobang.
What you wrote is very accurate, Alex. The users’ reaction was heard loud and clear, albeit rather late. The work that the R&D team is doing right now is nothing short of astonishing. They found a solution for the Google Search which will work (and that was always considered impossible), they will put together a new ER procedure for gathering, brainstorming, prioritizing and tracking user-ideas for writing a forum app for this community.
I am impressed!
Once the new ER tool will be up (I hope that will be along the lines of a TTL), it will be much easier to tell them what is wrong and how to fix them. At the very least, we will get the confirmation that we are heard.
The funny and sad thing is that currently users are heard but they do not get immediate acknowledgement that it is happening and that someone acts on fulfilling their wishes. It is a communication problem that needs to be fixed. And… the good news is that is being fixed…
Aha, got it. So, you are saying that, due to the nature of the platform, ERs are easier and faster to implement on the platform than on the desktop software.
And they are only responding to platform changes.
SW desktop changes are still “in the 90’s”.
All focus is on the “platform”. Nothing else.
We need to get focus back to Solidworks.
Not just “fixing the platform”.
Fix Solidworks.
We are using SW for production, not the platform. Even that’s what DS try to sell.
Now getting “off topic”.
Maybe get platform ER to handle all app ER/SPR. It should be good for VAR.
Fred,
Sorry that you lack vision…How do you not understand the platform is the future! Divert resources from SW, we must fix the platform at all costs!
Hang tight guys… Alin has spoken wise words, there is a lot going down, however there were quite a few things that happened that SW/DSS didn’t foresee, mainly the reaction of the Old SW Forum Users. I will still go with my comments here… https://www.cadforum.net/viewtopic.php?p=3296#p3296
