Man, I think the stopped allowing me to post pictures over there…I had the perfect reply to Roasted By John and Frederick_Law saying that the whole thing was built on a house of cards…“It’s like this ship is being driven by:”
They’re redirecting old forum URL to new SwYmP.
Pretty Interesting.
Now, will Google retain the old search results?
You can use your old bookmark and get into the SwYmP.
Of course only threads in there could be view.
As you pointed out earlier, the fact that they’re able to use the same olds links to bring them to the new platform is something to be applauded, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone succesfully manage this so far.
Hopefully the next step is programming a seperate module to the platform which will be used as a forum, rather then ask people to use the platform as the replacement to a forum.
Sure, the threads aren’t displaying right, right now, and I’m sure that puts them to shame. But I’m also sure that they’re still working on trying to get that fixed, because it is somewhat a crucial part of the transition.
This will, at some point, take you to the actual post. Their implementation is incredibly awful, but they are working to make improvements.
Eventually.
They have a lot of work to do.
Maybe the plan was to have job security for those social media programmers that know what we need better than what we’ve been telling them but they are too stupid and stubborn to listen even though we’ve been yelling and yelling and telling and telling, oh what Seussian rant I am on, without a proper period to end this long, oh what a mess I am, if I get ten times messier perhaps I can Swym.
Sorry. To much coffee in too short a time this morning.
This seems to be classic DSS. Force something on the users that isn’t even in Beta stage, and then spend the next 3 years letting the users debug the system for them.
Take a look at Ryan Priddy’s category list, no Kitty Dump, Quotes, What You Listen Too, Surely No Pets Allowed, What You Drink, all the Negative WHY’s - kind a what I expected. The replacement for all the above will be useless Marketing Shoved Down Our Gullets…
Because most assuredly everyone that logs onto the forum will not only read the wiki, but decide the “Proper” tag(s) to apply so that everyone can find the posts at a future date. The fact that this is not mandatory is ridiculous and the fact that someone has to go look at the list and then decide where it should be is short of unusable. Here and every forum I’ve ever been at you log in and are faced with “Places to put stuff that make sense” and STILL people post things in the wrong place. This approach is largely worthless.
