I occasionally want to move the extension line of a linear dimension to a different reference point or model edge. Previous to the Re-attach “enhancement” I could of course just grab the end of the extension line and move it to where I want.
Now I right-click on the extension line (or anywhere on the dimension) and select “Re-attach” from the drop-down. It invariably chooses the wrong one. Is there any way to make it switch to the one I want to move? Right-clicking on the other extension line doesn’t work, and I’ve tried the Tab key, but that does nothing.
As far as I can tell, you have to select for both ends. I used to think I could select one end, but as you say, you select anywhere and I think you have to do both.
If a dimension has lost both references, the only reattachment possible is through summits/points. I believe the new Re-Attach feature actually broke this if I’m not mistaken.
If a dimension has one lost reference, selecting a parralel edge to the not-lost reference will work. If it doesn’t work, using a summit/point willl also work but sometimes give wonky results(instead of being X or Y measures, they are angled, sometimes it also messes up the dimension display)
