I spent the better part of my morning trying to figure out why I could not change the state of a file. The workflows have been in place for more than a decade and have always worked with no problems. Today I did a Quick Search to find a file and then tried to use the Modify..Change State menu item, but it was greyed out. I went down a PDM permissions/Windows login (I’ve been having spurious problems with my Windows login claiming my account is locked) rabbit hole trying to determine what was going on.
Eventually (after more time than it should have taken me) I discovered that when right clicking the file, using regular search or browsing directly to the file, Change State was not disabled, so it has nothing to do with permissions and is simply a problem with the menus in the Quick Search.
This led me to this SPR in the KB:
which describes the problem for the Set Revision command but the Change State is affected as well.
Just posting it here so that others don’t waste time chasing the wrong problem like I did.
