"An unknown error occurred accessing xyz.SLDPRT"

I have been seeing this error since at least SW2004. Modelling away happily, saving as I go and then bam - the error above pops up on a save.

Can’t save, can’t save to a different file name. Can’t save any assembly that might be open containing the errant file. Just lost 45 minutes of work (Friday night special) despite having spammed CTRL-S all evening long.

Anyone have any ideas what causes this? It’s not an easy problem to capture - haven’t seen it for a few months - but it always loses significant lumps of “saved” work when it happens.

Grrrrr etc.

I got this issue resolved 9 time out of 10 by creating a new configuration within the corrupted part or assembly.

Interesting, that hadn’t occurred to me. Next time I encounter the problem I will try that.

Thanks.

Is it like this error? If so, it is a PITA. Can be fixed but you have to do some investigation work.

Yes like that. I lost the model last time but recreated the last few steps I think exactly as before the crash and the model behaved.

It’s a weird one for sure. Someone just commented on the video that creating a new configuration fixes it for them. I cannot test that at the moment but worth trying if it happens again.
