Alex Lachance

I mentioned this in the watercooler thread, but thought I would give it its own post.

Alex was very active in the solidworks forums (all iterations of it) since before I became
a member in 2017. I noticed a while ago that he hadn’t been active, but it slipped my mind and I didn’t think any more about it until this week. After doing some searching I discovered he passed away at the start of November.

At his residence, on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the age of 37 years and 4 months, Alex Lachance, son of Christian Lachance and Francine Grondin, passed away suddenly.

He resided in La Guadeloupe.

He is survived by his parents: Christian Lachance and Francine Grondin;

his brothers: Steve (Monia Godbout) and Jamie Lachance;

his niece and nephew: Précilla Lachance-Laframboise and Anthony Laframboise.

He also leaves to mourn many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service was held on Friday, November 14, at 4:30 p.m. in the Chaudière-Appalaches Memorial Park’s memorial hall.

Your expressions of sympathy can be translated into a donation to the Charles Guindon Foundation, 4007 Mackay, St-Hubert, QC, J4T 2P9.

This is truly a heartbreaking news. He always carried himself with integrity, warmth and always open to help others whenever possible.

My thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.

I just called up his office number, and news is correct unfortunately. He is no longer with us.

Alex, we all will miss you :frowning:

Sad, sad news. Alex was a fine human being.

I’ve created an @inmemoriam group and added Alex’s profile to it. All his existing posts will show a black ribbon on his avatar as a reminder.

I did notice and prepared for the worse.

Hope he was drunk on a fishing trip.

Alex was a truly sincere gentleman towards people, I can’t believe it. I know death isn’t just for the elderly, but accepting the loss of someone late is even harder. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

This news comes as a shock to me for sure. When the forum went down, Alex was the first person I reached out too to confirm what had transpired. Naturally, he knew all of the details. Always quick to help, his input here and other places will be sorely missed. One of those whom you have never met, but you felt like you have known forever.

Very sad, but thank you for sharing the news.

God! Such a young and kind man! I remember him supporting me on the old forum, saying I wrote English quite well, which was a bit of an exaggeration on his part. May all those quantum processors on the other side make your time more pleasant… And we’ll try to remember.
