Top Ten List '23

99% of the ideas are about SW.

Glad one of mine made it to your list!

I’d also like to plug one other of mine that I think will make for big time savings for many users; Explode View – Select All Items in Pattern https://r1132100503382-eu1-3dswym.3dexperience.3ds.com/#community:ASOG7PgNS7mfLRS8zemqQw/idea:FuVcJhRqTkiEhJUIrMvmiQ

So we need additional promotion for our ideas, like Alin is teaching us:

Good one! I have just voted for it. UU

God I want to vote on ideas but this site is so horrible. How do filter to what I want? Where are the software categories like sheetmetal, PDM, eDrawings, etc? How do I sort on most voted ideas? grumph

Go to the TTL community, then click on the Tags icon at the top:

Then down Tags menu the left, go to More Tags > User Tags to filter by category.

If you want to view by number of votes, go to More Tags > Likes, then use the three-dot menu to sort Alphabetical to order by the number of Likes, then you’ll have to select the quantity of likes to see what Ideas have that many votes.

Thanks, I found the tags…however on the sorting I want to sort on the idea content…not the tags. Only two options, activity level and creation date.

Could you clarify by what you mean by “sort on the idea content”? And/or add some screenshots of what you’re seeing?

Thanks Dave, was just enough to get me to go look. I found the PDM tag and checked those out. That SWYM is still about as clumsy as typing with a fist full of thumbs. No. Pinky toes, like typing with a fist full of pinky toes.

I’m still miserable about SubD getting quietly removed.

But hey, they say it’s implemented so surely it will be in next years release of SW ;;

Is there an actual way to sort by most vote to least votes, to get an actual “top ten” or wider?

What Dave said:

TTL as of 2023-01-13;

  1. AutoSolve Dangling Relations and Dimensions in Sketches and Drawings (35 votes)
  2. Ability to toggle a selection filter that only allows selections (faces, edges, etc) from a specific component - useful to restrict selections when working in complex assembly (26)
  3. Allow Import Diagnostics to be Used Anywhere (25)
  4. Allow to make corner trim on simple bends (23)
    =. Conditional formatting in PDM file view (23)
  5. Enhance the Large Design Review Mode for Applying Mates (22)
    =. Ability to align value in created field when editing PDM data card (22)
    =. Ability to reattach dangling DimXpert Annotation in MBD (22)
  6. Allow the Creation of BOMs Based on Visible Components (21)
  7. Add the advanced mesh capabilities of Plastics Simulation to the SOLIDWORKS Simulation program. (20)

I don’t see how to apply this to the actual list of ideas. That’s just the tag filters based on number of “likes”…they don’t set the order of the actual list of ideas in the middle pane.

They can look to Solid Edge (from 10 years ago) for how #1 should be implemented. See “Dimension Tracker” for behavior.

I looked and didn’t see it either. I think it’s somewhere in the tags thing.

Strangely enough, I have more sort options on the tag lists than the actual content I searched on. o[

This is where it becomes a joke and has been for some time. This system simple doesn’t work, and if anything, is stopping the development of stuff that would be of more use to wider audience.

It’s incredible how so many people from Turkey have voted for number 10. Bearing in mind that territory is far from the largest Solidworks user base.

That sorts the search, but not the actual ideas. It still works but it’s a hassle to have to switch between the number of votes rather then have an actual ‘top10’
