Solidworks - rope mechanism for a finger

Hi everyone! I got stuck somewhere in our prosthetic robotic hand project for disabled people which I am doing by using Solidworks software. The finger moves as I want, but I have to add a “simple rope mechanism” as an animation. I have also drawn the necessary channels for the finger to pass the rope, but I am having a problem in drawing the rope, passing it through the channels, and casting it into animation. Unfortunately, there is no such video about animation on Youtube and other platforms. Any help is appreciated!

Cool project!

There is this pulley example that might be helpful:

You could also export the STL files and use Blender to make the animation, will be much better than SW, but you will have some learning curve to go through.

Btw, you could use the Gear Mate to make them move together:

Here you go, paste them in a different folder because I didn’t rename your files.
Also this one is with Splines, first I tried with Arc. I think splines looks more realistic… you might get better results after some adjustments.

  • I had to make the sweeps inside each part because was the only way to snap the cable relations trough it.
  • Depending on the position you will blow up the sketch and have to manually fix it.
  • You need to adjust the pipe length in part 2 for a better movement.

Thank you so much!
