Is there a way to have some custom property automatically created in cutlist when a sheet metal cutlist is created?
For example, i wan to have the prop1 and prop2 created automatically in the cutlist property when i create a sheet metal base flange…
Hello,
I suggest creating a template dedicated for this.
In this template, create a basic base flange and add the properties.
Other than this, a macro could probably do it.
Thanks for the suggestion
If possible, i actually do not want to create a template as user might just delete the base flange in order to change the plane (ugh, i know bad practice) and the cutlist and its property will most probably gone with the delete…
Will take a look at the macro
You could try a property tab
http://help.solidworks.com/2019/English/SolidWorks/OH_PropertyTabBuilder/c_Property_Tab_Builder_Overview.htm
It’s been a while since I made one for my weldments.. there were some bugs but it was a few years ago.
Sound like a great idea… never know that the weldment property tab work for sheet metal too
I never knew you could add properties to sheet metal lol.. but I thought they both cutlists so worth a try
Yes, you CAN use Property Tab Builder for weldments, and yes, it works just as well for Sheet Metal. The only thing lacking is calling existing CL properties. For example, you can’t create a PartNo property that is linked to (or based from) Desc the way you could with a Part level Property Tab Builder.
Hello (again),
If I may ask, why do want to do this?
Do you want these added properties to show when add the cutlist properties on the drawing (on a flat view)?
If so, another approach would be to add the cutlist properties not to a flat pattern view.
Then edit the note and add the linked properties to it.
Save the edited note as a block (so you can easily reload it later).
When needed, drag it onto a drawing, explode it and attach to the flat pattern view.
In the OP image, the added cutlist properties reference other properties.
Another method would be to create separate note just for these properties. you could even put them into their own general table for a better presentation.

Well… long story short…
One of my friend want to have his bom display the raw material as the child part in his sheet metal part (i am still scratching my head wondering why as of now) and my thought is that cutlist may be one of the way to do it since it will show as the child part when view as detail bom . I manage to tie the SW-Material to the cutlist description but want to have some additional property for bom use…
For eg:
–Item 1 Sheet Metal Part 1
|_item 1.1 Material X
Hope this clear up some of the question
Something like this?

I was asking for the cutlist properties just to have the PN area filled
